Whenever you hear of bathroom fixtures, the first things that come to mind are furniture, lighting, faucets, cabinets, showers, sinks, toilets, and so on. These are the basic items that you would put in your bathroom. Obviously, these are all very important decisions since you want a clean, good looking bathroom fixtures.

Bathroom Fixtures 101

When choosing the furniture for your bathroom fixtures, you will want some type of cabinet that is big enough to hold all of your towels and soaps, but not so big that it takes up the whole room and is hard to move around in there. You will also want something that looks nice and matches the rest of the room. The most popular type of furniture to get is just something wooden with some type of fancy handles to class it up some. You can find some different types bathroom fixtures that you may like online where there will be plenty of different options to choose from.

When choosing your sink, toilet, and bathtub, you will probably just want to stick with the basic white finish. I know that sounds boring, but it is best to stick with only two different colors for your bathroom fixtures – and three at very most. You want everything to match up and look good. If you go overboard and have several different colors, then your bathroom will look like a cluttered mess rather than classy.

The lighting is another type of bathroom fixtures that you need to consider. There are plenty of different options to choose from, but you should just get something basic that goes over your mirror. Overhead lighting usually makes the room look a little less classy; you should not need a whole lot of lighting to make the room bright enough since it should be a small room. You will also need to choose rather you want the lighting to be really light or duller. The duller the room is, the easier it will be on your eyes.

Bathroom Fixtures Summary

There are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to bathroom fixtures. You are probably best to seek help from a professional in home design if you are clueless; if you do not know what you are doing, then you are more than likely to mess something up. With all of these factors in mind, then you should be able to class your bathroom up with style and class. Good luck!

When styling your bathroom, a faucet is a must for it. It is arguably one of the most important decisions that you need. You will be washing your hands multiple times per day, so you will be faced with looking and touching it a lot. You will have to like its texture and the style of it. You may not have a lot of money, but that is completely fine. There are a lot of different options that you can look into when searching for bathroom faucets.

When you think of bathroom faucets, you primarily think of the ones that you use for washing your hands. You will also need one to run water in your shower as well. It used to be that you could only get a brass or chrome faucet with little style, but now there are a lot more options to choose from. There are now plenty of different options to choose from which include brass, bronze, chrome, nickel, or stainless steel. There are also different styles to choose from which include contemporary, modern, traditional, transitional, and victorian. It all comes down to what your tastes are.

One of the most important decisions when dealing with this is how much money you are going to have to pull out of your wallet for this. Well, there is no straight answer for this. The prices will completely vary; you can get them as cheap as $70 or as expensive as $1,000 or more. Obviously, the nicer the bathroom faucet is, the more expensive it will be. Your best option is to shop around to see the best deal that you can get. Just because the faucet is cheap doesn’t mean that it’s going to be bad. If you shop online, you will be faced with a shipping fee, but that may still end up being cheaper than what you can find at an appliance store.

Whatever you choose, you will have to make sure that it matches the rest of your bathroom. This is very important to keep in mind, because you will not want to choose something that throws off the rest of the bathroom’s look. Once you find the style you like, you will need to find someone who can install it, and a lot of appliances stores will do this for you. You should be able to make the best option now!

You just finished filling your bathroom, and you think you are done. But wait; there are still some bathroom accessories that may be necessary for the room. These bathroom accessories include mirrors, shower curtain rods, towel tray holders, and much more. Some of these may not be completely necessary, but they can fill a bathroom out and make it look nicer. The only real bathroom accessories that are necessary in my opinion are a mirror and a shower curtain rod. You obviously need the mirror because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t need a mirror to make sure they look good in the morning? You are about to go to work, school, or just out in general, so you need to make sure you look good. The shower curtain rod will serve you well, so you don’t end up getting water all over the floor after a shower.

You may be on a short budget at this point. You just finished filling your bathroom up with an expensive sink, toilet, and bath, so you probably don’t have a whole lot of money to mess with at this point. That’s okay though; there are plenty of options online where you can find these accessories for cheap. Shopping online is probably the best option in general because you will be able to find more options and at most likely a cheaper price. The only real downside of doing this is because of the shipping fee. The only real advantage of buying these at a store is that you will get them the day that you purchase them, and there will not be a shipping fee because you can fit most of these accessories in your vehicle.

There are obviously different options to choose from, so you will have to look around to see what you like the best. You will need to make sure that whatever you get, it matches the rest of your bathroom in style and color. Getting a bathroom vanity that is an odd color or style can completely throw off the rest of the bathroom’s look. For example, if the rest of your bathroom is red and black, you will not want to get a blue shower rod. That will look a little odd in the room; stick with two colors if you can. With all of this said, you should be able to make some great options!

One of the other things that you will be faced with when styling your bathroom is finding a cabinet that suits it. There will be many different styles to choose from, so you won’t need to worry about that. Bathroom cabinets are very important because it needs to be large enough where you can fit anything you need in there such s soaps and towels, but it also needs to be small enough that you can fit everything else in there such as your toilet and bathtub.

Two door wooden cabinets are probably the most popular amongst people who buy bathroom cabinets. This is a great option because they are usually small enough to fit right below your sink, and it does not take up much room. At the same time, they are big enough to fit anything that you need in it. You get the best of both worlds. There are also plenty of other styles that you can choose from; obviously the better style that you get, the more expensive that it will be though. There are also some cabinets that you can fit around your mirror if that is something that you would be interested in.

Now, let’s talk about the price. This is what most people are interested in when it comes to things that they must buy. Like mentioned above, what you get is what you pay for in most cases. If you buy something that is less expensive, then it is most likely not going to be that nice. If you break the bank, then it is most likely going to be really nice. Sure, you may find a great deal somewhere, and that is why I encourage you to look around. Shopping online is probably the best option because there will be more bathroom cabinets to choose from. If you shop in the store, you are limited to what is just in that store. On the other hand, most of the places in the stores will ship your items for free though; if you shop online, there will most likely be a shipping fee. Those are just a couple of things to consider.

Like everything else in your bathroom, you will need to make sure that it matches the style. One wrong style or color can throw off the whole bathroom. With all of this in mind, you should make the best choices possible!

This way, you will have more ideas as to the things that you can do in order to obtain the look that you want to achieve at this part of your house. The tiles add to the overall appeal of this area. So you must be very careful in choosing the kinds that you want to install in your bathroom. This is especially true if you are on a tight budget and you cannot renovate this part all the time due to financial constraints.

Before you buy and choose among the available bathroom tile patterns at your local stores, you may first want to look at the following resources for ideas.

1. You may want to check out magazines that contain pictures and articles that deal with the topic. This way, you will have more ideas as to the things that you can do to add fun and excitement on your bathroom. There are some people who like to spend long hours at this part of the house. If you fall in that category, you should do your best to obtain the kind of bathroom that will make you linger for quite a while.

2. You can also look at the Internet for the newest with regards to this topic. Aside from the patterns, you can also browse at the types of tiles and you can also gauge the overall price that the project may cost you.

3. If you are receiving marketing materials from various companies at your mail, you should first check them out before you put them on the trash. There may be brochures or catalogues from those who are selling or installing tiles. For sure, there will be pictures as to how you can utilize various bathroom tile patterns and how to achieve different effects.

The Patterns

You must base the pattern of the tiles according to what will suit your taste and your personality. Try to mix and match the patterns, sizes and colors to achieve the look that you want to obtain for this part of your house. Here are some things that you can consider for this project.

1. Bright and bold colors of tiles can help you create a modern look for your bathroom. You can also choose the tiles that have superior shapes and graphics and place these against a background that is plain to achieve a contrasting look.

2. If you want a romantic appeal, you can choose tiles with floral designs and with colors in the hue of pink and red.

3. You must also place safety at the top of your consideration. If that is your main goal, then you can opt for ceramic floor tiles. These are more resistant when it comes to dampness. With these, your bathroom will be ideal for all family members, whether they are kids or older people.

Are you tired of your bathroom’s old style and design and are you thinking of remodelling it? But before you lift your finger and start hammering away, the best thing to do first is to create a bathroom floor plan. Bathroom floor plans save you time, money, and effort especially if you are concise with details and you are sure about what you like. You do not have to be a professional interior designer to create bathroom floor plans. All you need to know is what you like, how to measure precisely, and how to position the fixtures in your bathroom.

Luckily, there are some tips available for amateurs like you for creating bathroom floor plans. Here are some of those tips.

• For old bathrooms that only need to be remodelled, just measure the size and determine the shape of the bathroom. If you are going to construct a new bathroom, then decide on a size that you want and that will suit your needs. Be sure to be concise and precise especially when you are measuring spaces. One mistake can create problems during construction.

• Choose locations for the main bathroom fixtures such as toilet, shower, bathtub, or sink. Determine the sizes and shapes of each fixture. Take into consideration the size and the location of the bathroom. Do not force a huge bathtub fit for the whole family if your bathroom is the size of a matchbox. Be practical and realistic.

• Use a quarter-inch or eighth-inch scale in drawing the template for your bathroom floor plan.

• When drawing your ideas on the template, make sure that your paper is taped on the table where you will work so that it will not move while you are drawing on the different areas.

• Use interior designing tools for drawing and precise measurements such as T-square and triangles. Use a pencil so that you can easily erase mistakes.

• For each fixture, the design should be drawn using the quarter-inch scale. It should be large so that details can easily be observed.

• Do not forget the door. It should be the very first thing that you need to draw once you have outlined the bathroom floor plan.

• If you want custom-made fixtures for your bathroom, be sure to prepare a detailed layout for each fixture such as your tub, sink, shower, or toilet. This way, the contractor or designer can easily know what you want to have in your bathroom which will later on avoid misunderstandings.

• After you have finished your bathroom floor plan—you have measured, positioned, designed, and drawn everything—it is now time to find a contractor who will execute your bathroom floor plan.

• Make sure that your lines are clear and clean, free from smudges so that the contractor will easily know what he is dealing with.

• It would also be better if you have several bathroom floor plans to choose from before you decide to remodel you bathroom. Weigh the pros and cons of each floor plan. This way, you will have no regrets once you see the newly remodelled or designed bathroom.

Years ago it seemed that a bathroom in a home simply amounted to moving the outhouse indoors and some of the bathrooms in older homes are not much more than that. It is little wonder that anyone living in these older homes give prime consideration to bathroom renovations. Again, as with most home improvements, care in planning is important. If it is a bathroom in an older home that you want to renovate then this may well involve the changing of the fixtures.

Care must be exercised not only in choosing the fixtures, but also in choosing a plumbing contractor to make the changes. In most areas a qualified plumber, one with a licence, is required to install any major plumbing. In some cases minor changes or repairs can be done by the homeowner.

Always check with the local plumbing inspection department and make sure you have the required permits and get the required inspections. The plumbing code is for your own protection and it is simply logical to abide by it. Sometimes the choosing of fixtures presents a problem because of price differences. It is usually best to choose a good name brand even if it means spending more.

A vanity cabinet and basin is a practical feature in any bathroom. It may be that your bathroom renovations don’t call for the changing of the fixtures and yet a vanity cabinet may be a desirable feature. If this is the case I would suggest that you install a vanity basin instead of trying to build a vanity around your present wall hung sink. Although this has been done by some professional cabinet makers, the fitting of the top around the sink is difficult and sometimes a poor job results in an unsightly mess. Vanity Cabinets can be designed to serve many purposes. If there is room enough they can be built large enough to include linen storage, storage for cleaners and other products used in caring for the home.                   Â

As you might already know, bathroom fixtures are available in a number of colors and it is not difficult to choose a color that will blend in with your plan, but a word of warning: The color chips from which you will choose the color usually have a note saying that the actual color of the fixtures may vary from the sample. In some cases the variance is quite noticeable. If you were to choose a color of paint that matches the sample exactly, you may be disappointed then the actual fixture arrives. So it is best to make any critical color choice after the fixtures have been installed. Care must be exercised when choosing fittings. Again there are the cheap and the very expensive ones. Choose a medium priced fitting. There are a number of faucets available with plain or fancy handles, single control faucets and faucets combined with a pop-up sink stopper. Tub fillers and shower heads should be of good quality and there are various styles and features available. One of the main problems experienced in the tub area if a shower is installed is moisture penetrating the wail finish. This can be a real problem and your bathroom renovation may consist only of renewing this surface. Ceramic tile is certainly more durable, but more costly to install.

One of the new products on the market is a new tub-shower system for installing a durable moisture proof surface in your tub area. This system eliminates the problem of moisture penetrating the joints of finishes such as tile, as this system has three acrylic panels that fit around the tub area. The tub is also made of acrylic and thus is warmer to the touch as well as keeping the water warmer longer. The surface is stain, slip and chip resistant . The tub is the standard five feet by 30 inches but in the centre of the front it dips down and out for easy access for children and older people.

If your bathroom is typical of 75 per cent of those around today, it’s small, dull and in need of renovation. But when you look in home improvement magazines, all you see are large, luxurious bathrooms, bigger than the living rooms in most homes. Where do you get ideas for remodeling that small bathroom? Make use of the design concepts in those showcase bathrooms, says a leading manufacturer of plumbing products.

Select the ideas, color schemes and products you like and incorporate them into your plan. There are seven basic elements that go into a practical, functional and beautiful bathroom, no matter what size it is.

The first is a good plan. Getting the most bathroom for your money is simply a matter of making the best use of available space. Begin with questions only you can answer. Who will use the room—the entire family, adults only, children only, guests? How many persons must it serve at peak periods such as getting the family off to work or school? What extras should the room provide—whirlpool bath, hair washing center, off-the-wall hand held shower, compartmented toilet and bidet, bathtub with built-in safety features?

Â

Once you’ve determined whom and how the new room will serve, it’s important to know what’s available in plumbing products and accessories. That’s step two. Toilets are available with a variety of features. Some will not overflow. Some are wall hung for off-the-floor convenience. Some are less than 19 inches high; counter tops can extend over the back of the toilet for additional storage space. And some use 30 per cent less water than conventional toilets. Ideal for cottages, farms and other homes dependent on wells and septic tank systems, as well as for use in areas of expensive water and sewerage rates.

Bathtubs for the smaller bathroom range from extra long for stretch-out comfort, to extra deep, like the Steeping Bath, 20 inches deep for soaking comfort, but only 5 feet long to fit the tub recesses found in conventional bathrooms. Bathtubs in enameled cast iron have the textured bottom that helps keep wet feet from slipping. Some tubs are also available with safety grip handles. Lavatories today do more than just hold water. They’re shampoo-grooming centers with plenty of room and convenience features like swing-away spout, shampoo hose and spray, soap-lotion dispenser. And they’re self rimming for neater, quicker installations. Color coordination is the third basic element, and it’s even more important for the smaller bathroom. Plumbing products are available in such attractive colors they almost beg to be the starting point of your color scheme.

Choose from bold accents like Tiger Lily, Blueberry, Antique Red or Sunflower. Use bright colors like Pink Champagne, New Orleans Blue, Fresh green or Harvest Gold. Mix or match. Open up a small room with light, bright colors. Easy maintenance, the fourth basic element, is as important in the bathroom as it is in any other room. Begin with quality fixtures, those with finishes of glass, hard vitreous china or durable enameled cast iron. Complement them with quality single control or twin handle fittings, faucets with chrome or gold electroplate finishes and handles without dirt-catching corners. Consider vinyl wall coverings for both decorative effect and easy maintenance. Use non-abrasive cleansers to keep the whole room clean and bright. The fifth element is adequate ventilation. It’s an item easily overlooked in bathroom remodeling. Depending on the extent of renovation, ventilation can be added under the floor—a recent development—or through the wall or ceiling. Ample cabinet pace and adequate lighting are the final elements in proper bathroom planning. Counter top lavatories and low silhouette toilets help gain storage space.

Renovating a bathroom can be stressful, especially if care is not taken to plan the project carefully. After living in a house for several years, it’s only natural to want to make changes to the decor. When it comes to the bathroom, one of the more frequented rooms in the house, many things have to be considered. While you want to make changes to the room, you want it to remain as functional as possible. But because of the complexity of a complete bathroom renovation, something always seems to go wrong.

There are ways to avoid these inevitable problems, and it all starts with having a proper plan of attack. Sit down with all family members residing in the house and decide what you want the finished project to look like. Cover everything from plumbing fixtures and hardware to window coverings and flooring.

Consideration should be given to the types of sink, toilet and tub would be best for the family. When you have agreed on all the major components of the plan, the choice must be made to either do the work yourselves or hire professionals. There are many excellent companies that do fine work at fair prices, but as with anything, caution should be used when it comes to hiring a company to perform home renovations.

Choose a company carefully, basing your choice on previous personal contact, recommendations of friends who have dealt with the company, and on the recommendations of the business where you bought your products. Always get appraisals from three or more companies before making your final decision. Given all the variables, a major bathroom renovation project is best left to experienced professionals. But if you plan to do the work yourself, consult the advice of the experts. What kind of assistance is out there for a would-be renovator?

Your best source of information are salespeople who make their living selling products for bathroom renovations. An experienced professional can guide you through a vast selection of options and suggest possibilities that you may have not known existed. If you approach your bathroom renovation project thoughtfully, and plan ahead for the inevitable problems, you can survive with little or no stress at all.

You’ll then be free to enjoy the added value you have put into the house.

How often have you flipped on the bathroom light, sighing as you look at the chipped vanity top, pink tiled bathtub and boring walls? Have you been delaying a bathroom renovation because you aren’t sure where to begin or you don’t know how difficult the process will be? Well, the truth is that bathroom renovation is as easy or as difficult as you make it, as long as you keep a few tips in mind.

First, set a budget. Because product installation can account for a quarter of renovation costs, it is wise to consider products that are less labor intensive, such as factory customizable vanity tops or shower and tub surfaces. Many customers come go into showrooms with their minds made up, and hence don’t take time to compare products and see the advantages of those other products clearly. Do not be one of these people.

You should look at a variety of products, keeping in mind that customizable products can save you time and money in the long run. One such product, The Transolid Design Series’ Vanity Tops, which can be purchased at a lot of stores and showrooms, is completely customizable, including vanity top color, bowl options and edging choices. Once the order is placed, the Transolid vanity top arrives from the factory within two weeks, ready for installation.

A second important tip is to keep the project as simple as possible. If the plumbing doesn’t need replacing and the floor is in good shape, start with subtle changes that will transform the entire look of your bathroom, such as a fresh coat of moisture-resistant paint or a new solid surface vanity top. The next guideline for bathroom renovation is to ask for help when you need it. Because no matter how much you know about bathroom renovation, it is always helpful to work with professionals who can guide you through the project. A factory-customizable Transolid Vanity Top can transform an entire bathroom without months of disruptive renovation. Many people think they know everything about bathroom products but a designer or contractor can identify a design aspect you’ve never thought of. Lastly, keep a notebook of ideas for your new bathroom, such as paint chips and magazine clippings.

If you’re not sure where to start, research online for innovative ideas, online tools that guides you through the design options for a new bath vanity.  So remember these suggestions as you take the plunge into your bathroom renovation. With a little patience and a well thought-out plan, the bathroom of your dreams is just around the corner:

• Set a realistic budget for your bathroom renovation projects.

• Keep things as simple as possible, starting with small changes that make a big difference.

• Don’t be afraid to ask for help from design and remodeling professionals who can guide you through the project.

• Compile list of your ideas and take advantage of interactive design tools on the Internet.
