People often say that a lawn can either help you sell your home or keep you from selling your home. There is absolutely no in between on this issue. People often equate lawn care with how the homeowner took care of the rest of the home. Not only this, but it will be the first thing people see when they drive up to your house. It can be impressive, or it can leave a lot to be imagined about the homeowner. This may be quite stereotypical, but this is simply the way things go. Its why it is important for people to take care of their lawns properly.

Spray the yard in early spring to kill weeds effectively

Weeds will begin to grow and spread in the early spring. It is important to kill them before they get a strong hold on the lawn. If you do not catch them early enough, it will make it very difficult to get rid of them later on.

There are several different types of weed killer and depending on your area may depend on what kind you need. Generally $20.00 will get you enough to last you a few years depending on how large your yard is. I would recommend that you go to your local lawn care retailer and have them recommend something to you. If you are totally confused about what you need, but know that you have some kind of odd weeds, take pictures using your camera and bring your camera along with you. They should be able to help you identify what you need to get rid of it.

The use of a green or blue dye while spraying has become extremely popular in recent years. Some people feel that the purpose is just for cosmetics, but really it has to do with fertilizing and spraying the yard to kill weeds. Whether you are blanketing the yard or just spot spraying, you can use the dye to see where you have already been. This is recommended to ensure that you cover the yard thoroughly and do not miss any areas. The dye is also highly concentrated so you will also find it to last several years as well.

Finding the Right Plants

Now that you hopefully have a beautiful lawn, you can start moving on to more decorative things. Styles of homes can frequently determine the types of plants you want to go with. For example, I have seen many Spanish style homes being adorned with cactuses, rocks, and topped off with a few other flowers that might grow in the same regions as those plants. Generally though, you will find a more Arizona appearance with less flowers and the use of other plants.

While right next door, a modern ranch style home can have very bright colors such as bright reds. These will likely have many more flowers and bright vivid colors. You will frequently see the use of wood chips instead of rocks used in flower beds.
